CANBERRA, Jan 19 AAP - For the most part, the only thing Prime Minister John Howardcould offer was words of comfort and a hug.
It seemed almost a relief to him when he could offer more.
As he toured the burned out remains of the western Canberra suburbs ravaged by thefirestorm that ripped through the ACT yesterday, Mr Howard met a World War II veteranwho found the charred remains of his service medals in the ashes of his caravan.
