Fed: Anderson not upset he copped blame for roads bungle
Federal Transport Minister JOHN ANDERSON has dismissed reports that he is annoyed to
have copped all the blame for the $3 billion roads funding bungle.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper in Sydney says Mr ANDERSON was upset that he and his
office has carried the blame while Treasurer PETER COSTELLO and Finance Minister JOHN
FAHEY have escaped criticism.
But Mr ANDERSON says PETER COSTELLO and JOHN FAHEY did not know, while he did.
He says the buck stops with him and the people responsible had very honorably accepted
the only outcome that could be the case.
The Auditor-General revealed last week successive governments had failed to spend an
estimated shortfall of about $2.9 billion over several years.
Two of Mr ANDERSON'S senior advisers have been sacked over the incident.
