A man who produced videos of child pornography was sentenced March 24, 2011, to 23 years in federal prison.

Kevin McManaman, age 45, of Sioux City, Iowa, received the sentence after an October 25, 2010, guilty plea to two counts of producing child pornography.

At the guilty plea, McManaman admitted that, between 1997 and 2008, he made pornographic videotapes of minors. McManaman is already in federal prison for methamphetamine and firearm charges.

McManaman was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. McManaman was sentenced to 276 months' imprisonment. Special assessments of $200 were imposed, and McManaman must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term. He must comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements. There is no parole in the federal system.

McManaman is being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
