HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1996--Support for Windows NT(a) environments and for operation over the Internet head the new capabilities in a major release of LANDesk(R) Management Suite, the flagship member of Intel Corporation's desktop management software product line, the company announced today.
Version 2.5 of LANDesk Management Suite continues Intel's commitment to reduce the PC support costs found in business computing by providing greater control and increased user uptime for networks of Intel architecture-based personal computers. According to Forrester Research Inc., businesses spend an average of $3,800 annually (including lost productivity) to manage each PC they own. Helping to reduce that expense, LANDesk Management Suite is an integrated suite of 13 applications that allow network administrators to monitor and control systems remotely, keep track of hardware and software components, and distribute software to desktop PCs and servers from a single control console.
The new release, available now, allows a network administrator to monitor Windows NT systems and to use the Internet and corporate intranets for such operations as remote control, inventory and software distribution. While continuing support for Novell NetWare(a) environments, the new version extends the range and flexibility of LANDesk Management Suite to allow customers to manage the diverse networks increasingly found in business computing.
"Intel is delivering on two commitments: making the Intel architecture easy to manage, and lowering the costs of business computing," said Ed Ekstrom, general manager of Intel's Network Products Division. "The new LANDesk Management Suite v2.5 is a robust, full-featured solution for managing clients and servers over the network, and it helps customers realize the full benefits of systems based on Pentium(R) Pro and Pentium processors."
Intel introduced the award-winning, full-featured LANDesk Management Suite v2.0 as the first integrated desktop management suite designed for Novell NetWare(a)-based PC LANs in January 1995. The LANDesk Management Group of products leads the LAN management market segment with 35 percent share for 1995, according to International Data Corporation.
The LANDesk Management Suite v2.5 core system, including a five-node license, is priced at $750 (U.S. suggested list). Additional node licenses are: $1,000 for a 10-node license, $6,250 for a 100-node license, and $50,000 for a 1,000-node license; volume pricing is available for node quantities of more than 5,000. A 50-percent discount (from suggested list price) is available through August to customers who upgrade from a previous version or who purchase the product to complement an enterprise management system that includes elements of LANDesk product technology.
LANDesk Management Suite is available worldwide through a network of distributors and value-added resellers.
