Poker HQ primes to lose 600 Dublin staff.(News)

MORE than 600 jobs are at risk at the internet poker gambling firm Pocket King's Dublin headquarters.

The Gambling Control Commission of Alderney, the third-largest of the Channel Islands, suspended its parent company's licence. Pocket Kings employs more than 600 staff at the Cherrywood Science and Technology Park.

It established a base here in 2006 and provides functions such as IT support, fraud detection, marketing and customer services to Full Tilt Poker, which is licensed in Alderney.

Reports say that the authorities on the island found evidence that the site was violating local laws.

This is the second blow for the company and for the global poker gambling industry after a major crackdown in the U.S. since last year.
